Our Erasmus+ in Turin

My name is José Antonio. I am responsible for the Chemistry subject in our high school and one of the teachers who was in Turin last week with some of our oldest students on an Erasmus+ experience. Together with Marta, the English teacher, I had the chance to know and see, from the teacher’s point of view, what it is really like to be an Erasmus+ participant, how our students get on daily with fellow teenagers from other nationalities (not only Italian, but also Turkish, Portuguese, Finnish or Polish) and make the most of it.

The feeling is more than great: smiling faces on the flight back to Spain, tiredness and barely no time to relax but feeling that it has been really worth it. While it has been about the usual project paperwork and meetings for the adult section, our pupils have been able to meet people from different countries, cultures and habits, express themselves in a different language and exchange opinions, hobbies or visit a foreign city.

Former Erasmus college student as I am, I personally believe this is an opportunity not to be missed by any student who is interested in travelling, meeting people for other places in Europe and the rest of the world and broadening their horizons in a way that goes far beyond the academic life. It goes without saying that it also allows them to be more in touch with a foreign language while being in a different scholar atmosphere yet with same-age people to share their interests, befriend and make a good relationship with.

All in all, an opportunity that no one should, if offered, miss during their high school life.

Day1

Hello, we are Eric and Nerea, and today we are going to talk about our experience on the first day in the Erasmus project.

We began that day with energy at the airport, we were nervous to stay there and meet our host students. We all met around lunchtime, approximately, at one o'clock. Once we all got there, we started the process of checking in our bags and then saying goodbye to our families. It was a very difficult moment for some of us.

Once we said goodbye to our families and passed the controls, we walked to the boarding gates to board the plane, and we stood in line until the moment to get on the plane.
When we arrived inside, we sat on our seats. The flight lasted 1 hour. It was so quiet for all and short... when we least expect it, we were already there. When we lend we were all nervous about meeting our host families, although this feeling didn't last too much since the families were very welcoming.

Each one went to the shelter that corresponds to us. We arrived home exhausted and once there, we all spoke with the families about our trip, or they made questions about us. We ate an excellent Italian food, we gave thanks to the families for the dinner. Finally, we went to sleep, looking forward to the following day.

Hello, I'm Gerard. I'm going to explain you our second day in Torino. Yesterday, we met our host families for the following week. It was great.
Personally, I’m happy since I woke up at a quarter to seven because the house is near the school. I also had breakfast with the father and the son. Finally, I have got dressed, then we went to the school by car.
Hi, my name is Paula and I also want to explain what I have done this morning. Today, I woke up at half past six because my host family lives far from the secondary school. We had to take two buses to get there.
When we arrived there, the dimensions of the building surprised us a lot because it is enormous and the auditorium is huge. There, we had a seminary about the importance of taking care of the planet and the issues caused by plastic on human health. After that, we were organized in groups of 8 students, mixing all nationalities, where we had to explain our opinion about the topic.
Later, it was the time to introduce ourselves. So, the eight students of INS Europa made a presentation of our secondary school and our commitment to the environment. Furthermore, we showed the research about recycling that we did in Spain to the other countries which are Portugal, Finland, Poland, Turkey and Italy.
In the afternoon we visited the city centre of Turin accompanied by the host students. We saw different important monuments of the city such as the Royal Palace or the Piazza Castello. Ending up, we came back home and have dinner at 8 p.m.

Bye bye, see you tomorrow with other students

In L'Espluga de Francolí

The students of 2nd ESO have spent three days in L'Espluga de Francolí and surrounding vilages to discover in situ how life was in Medieval Times. They have visited the medieval city of Montblanc, L'Espluga de Francolí and have participated in workshops, activities and games to deepen their understanding of the period.

To finish their work, on Thursday and Friday they have prepared a presentation of the work done and presented it in front of a jury.

All in all we have all had an interesting experience from many points of view and hope to repeat the experience on another topic next year.
