Language assistant erasmus internship

Institut Europa takes part in the Erasmus+ programme through both international cooperation projects involving our students and by hosting university students from other European countries who complete their teaching internships abroad with us.

This academic year, we have welcomed a trainee from January to March as an English language assistant. Martina, comes from Messina in Sicily (Italy). She is a third-year language student, specialised in English and Arabic. From January, she has been helping students from 1st of ESO to 1st of Batxillerat both in the classroom with the main teacher as well as providing speaking practices in small groups of four students at a time. Also, we will soon welcome another trainee at the beginning of March from Slovenia, with a degree in Intercultural Linguistics, with the same mission in our school.

Their time at our centre allows them to gain practical classroom experience while also improving their Catalan and Spanish language skills and becoming more familiar with the vibrant local culture.

At the same time, our students benefit from direct contact with teachers from diverse European backgrounds. This interaction provides an authentic context in which to practise and strengthen their English skills. The assistants offer us an insight into different traditions, lifestyles and perspectives, as well as helping our students broaden their understanding of the world.

Through this exchange, we not only enhance communicative competence but also place learning within a richer and more meaningful real-life context.
